The Punctuator, No. 212

What is your derby name, # & tagline?

The Punctuator #212 "She'll dot your eyes and cross your teams."

How did you come up with your number?

212 is the area code of my favorite city I have lived in: NYC. Even more importantly, it is the boiling point of water. Students have told me they see steam coming out of my ears.

How did you come up with your derby name?

I love my job: I teach English and edit anyone courageous enough for the feedback.

How and when did you get involved with roller derby?

Summer of 09 I came to watch the championship bout. Though it took about 20 minutes for me to comprehend what the heck was going on, it only took about 2 minutes for me to know I HAD to play this. So, I tried out!

Any serious injuries?

My most recent was a nail kicked backwards/upwards by a mid-air skate. Not serious, but how does THAT happen? Derby!

Do you have a rival on the track?

Probably the league champions. Or anyone who does not keep "it" on the track.

What is your favorite position to play?

I like protecting our jammer, but I also like jamming. I love sprinting, and I guess the grass is always greener...

What is the worst penalty you ever committed?

Aren't they all bad?

Do you have any pre-bout rituals?

They are probably still blooming, but a good night's rest, a good skate cleaning, and some good jams on the way. Slumdog Millionare's soundtrack is pretty energizing if the radio is failing that day.

What kind of skates & wheels do you roll on?

R3 and Demons: Yah, I know. Rookie skates.

What has been your most exciting moment in your derby career?

Making ARRG; drafted to M80s; knocking someone down the first time; not getting knocked down for the first (second, third...) time when a stud player took me on; there are still certain rumps I am working on getting past.
