The 2012-13 home season finale for the Arch Rival Roller Girls takes place this Saturday night, featuring a first-time showdown with one of the Midwest’s most elite leagues!
In the main event, the ARRG All-Stars – currently ranked #11 in the WFTDA – battle # 17 Minnesota RollerGirls. Immediately following that match-up, ARRG’s Saint Lunachix face off against MNRG’s B-Squad.
The action takes place at Midwest Sport Hockey (570 Weidman Rd., Ballwin, MO) Doors for the double header open at 6:30 pm and the first whistle blows at 7 pm. NOTE: The A-Team Bout is first bout of the evening.
Tickets on bout night are $15 cash at the door. Children 10 and under get in FREE. Save $3 per ticket by buying in advance online at Brown Paper Tickets by going to THIS LINK RIGHT HERE. (Note: Online ticket sales end Friday late-evening. If you purchase tickets online and pick them up via “WILL CALL” at the venue, there is no additional fee.)
The action will be top-notch from whistle to whistle this Saturday night as ARRG looks to put an exclamation point on its successful campaign at Queeny Park.
Jammers Smarty McFly and Mighty Mighty Boston scored 94 and 84, respectively, in the onslaught, followed by South City Shiner’s 72 and Brickyard’s 53. All four will once again be in the jamming rotation this Saturday night.
Building the foundation will be ARRG’s stellar blocking schema, paced by Chewblocka, Grave Danger, May Require Stitches, Mayor Francis Slayer, Science Friction, Rhino-Might, The Educator, Eli Wallop and a host of others.
As a franchise, ARRG has never lost an interleague bout at Midwest Sport Hockey. Its unblemished mark of 11-0 is in jeopardy this weekend against a league that has made three straight appearances at the WFTDA Championships.
Minnesota (1-4) has finished second in the last three WFTDA North Central region playoffs in order to advance to the international tourney for the Hydra Cup.
Its record this season is extremely misleading, for they have battled highly-ranked squads. Losses to defending WFTDA Champions Gotham, Texas, Rocky Mountain and Denver were tough to take.
The team’s lone win on the ledger so far in 2013 is a 340-102 victory over Ohio in June at Midwest Brewhaha.
This team contains plenty of firepower at every position. Veterans Juke Boxx and Harmony Killerbruise pace the jamming rotation while MEDUSA, Second Hand Smoke, Hurtrude Stein, Diamond Rough and a host of others set the blocking foundation.
This highly-respected team is one that ARRG takes very seriously heading into battle this Saturday.
“It’s a huge honor to be playing Minnesota,” said ARRG’s South City Shiner. “We’ve been watching them closely ever since they surprised everyone and went to Championship (in 2010.) We are in awe of them and I look up to them quite a lot.”
“It’s going to be the hardest game we’ve played this season,” added Mayor Francis Slayer. “I think it’s going to be pretty wild and I’m super excited.”
Saturday’s b-team battle should be pretty wild as well.
“We played the smartest game that we have ever played,” said Chix co-captain Morgan LeFaetal of the victory that pushed the team’s record to 8-2.
Jammer IDA the Living Dead notched a personal best of 132 points in the win. Molecular Mayhem and Killer Painguin added 87 and 79, respectively. All three will don the star for the Chix Saturday.
The blocking will be paced by the aforementioned LeFaetal alongside co-captain Pink Diamond, Party Foul, Ginny Beastly, The Forecloser and a host of others.
The team looks to finish strong against its b-team counterpart from Minnesota.
Launched in 2011, MNRG’s B-Squad currently sports a 1-0 record following a 156-145 win over the A-squad of Old Capital City.
The roster is difficult to gauge due to its minimal appearances – only four bouts altogether as a franchise in three seasons – yet, one can imagine that they should have plenty of depth heading into Saturday’s match-up.
“Minnesota’s A-team is pretty high-ranked, so I think their b-team is going to be a hard game for us,” said LeFaetal of the opponent. “Our philosophy this season has been to play every team as if it was the hardest team that we’ve ever played.”
It’s going to be two fun bouts! You’ll want to be there for all the flat-track mayhem!
While at Midwest Sport Hockey, make sure you stop by the ARRG merchandise table! You’ll find plenty of goodies to help support the St. Louisans.
