The B-team of travelers from St. Louis journey across I-70 this weekend to battle a Show-Me State rival in their final scheduled bout of the 2012 season.

This Saturday night, the Arch Rival Roller Girls’ Saint Lunachix faces Plan B, the developmental squad of the Kansas City Roller Warriors at Municipal Auditorium.

The action takes place at 7 pm, prior to the doubleheader’s main event featuring the Kansas City Roller Warriors versus the Naptown Tornado Sirens.

The Lunachix (7-2) utilized a hard-charging second half to post a 151-86 victory over the Twin City Derby Girls on August 4 at Midwest Sport Hockey.

In that bout, the Lunachix overcame a 14-point intermission deficit and outscored TCDG 100-20 in the second period to pick up their fourth straight win.

Jammer Brickyard paced the locals with 44 points scored while EnYa Nightmare contributed 39. Both will be in the line-up this Saturday alongside Morgan LeFaetal and Rhino-Might, who respectively scored 36 and 29 in the win. Sly Davinita will more than likely also see rotations with the “star” on the helmet.

The familiar faces of the Lunachix blocking schema will be making the cross-state road trip. Deathica Steele, Eveready, Shell Shoxx, Ginny Beastley, The Oregon Betrayal, The Forecloser, Megalodominator, The Ginger Assassin and Shacgyver are on the roster for Saturday night.

They’re facing a squad that has been plagued by injuries and a roster overhaul in 2012 but plan on utilizing home rink advantage to their benefit.

KCRW’s Plan B (1-2) netted a 208-134 victory over the Capital City Crushers of Topeka, Kansas to win their first bout of 2012. Prior to that, Plan B had a pair of setbacks to Mid-Iowa and Northwest Arkansas.

Veteran Bomb Pop leads the jamming rotation for Kansas City with additional help from Hail Mary. Aside from those two and blocker Toxic Assets, the team is completely different than what was seen one year prior.

Historically, the Lunachix have a 1-0 record against Plan B, a 130-103 win at Municipal Auditorium nearly one year ago.

A win this Saturday night for the Chix will put the exclamation point on another solid season! We’ll let you know on Monday how the locals fared!

C-TEAM TRAVELS TO QUINCY THIS WEEKEND

Saturday’s Lunachix bout is not the only travel team action on the docket this weekend.

ARRG’s C-team – the Rookie Rivals – faces the Dark River Derby Coalition of Quincy, IL this Saturday night.

The Rookie Rivals’ roster is comprised of the league’s most-recently drafted skaters and non-rostered skaters that desire to be drafted by one of the four ARRG local teams later this year.

The squad is looking to rebound from a loss to the Twin City Derby Girls two weekends ago but plan on using the bout to gain some much needed track time for “the future of ARRG.”

The numbers will be small, but the competitive drive will most definitely be there. The tentative roster for the Rookie Rivals as of press time: Vod Kaknockers, Warpath O’ Jen, The Sound of Violence, Dolly Rot’N, Spice Rack, Calamity Cat, Duece Bomber, Arcane Sugar, Ida, Ari Gotcha and O_O.

The Rookie Rivals picked up the win the last time these two squads met, a 177-59 victory in July 2011.

However, that particular contest was DRDC’s inaugural bout as a franchise. Since then, a lot of success has occurred in the span of a year for the skaters from Quincy.

Dark River has racked up a record of 4-2 thus far in 2012, including a 244-71 victory over the Illinois Valley Vixens on July 21.

DRDC’s Misty Mount N’ Stomp

Founding members Misty Mount N’ Stomp, Laneacious, Suzannthrax, Scarlet Slamurai, Kate Gnash and Ram Skillet lead the charge for DRDC, while second-year skaters Gloria Fire, La Frostina, Havoc Moon, Little Miss Vicious, Pryor Offense, Queen Jezebelle, Chute to Kill, Tiny Slasher and the wonderfully-named Megarotta the Wicked compliment the line-up.

DRDC would love nothing more than to even the series with a big win at home this Saturday night.

This bout should be a fun one for both. Expect the rivalry to continue this weekend.

ALL-STARS PREPARE FOR REGIONALS, FUNDING NEEDED

It may seem kind of strange to you, the derby lovin’ fan, that the Arch Rival Roller Girls All-Stars – the current fourth-ranked team in the WFTDA North Central region – would be relegated to “third billing” in this week’s column.

The only reason that is happening is because St. Louis’ best on quads are idle competitively on the flat-track until the upcoming North Central playoffs, entitled “Thrill of the Spill,” which takes place in mid-September.

However, that doesn’t mean that the hard-charging squad is resting on their laurels prior to post-season play.

The rollers are continuously practicing and preparing for their first-round match-up against fifth-ranked Ohio, a squad that defeated the locals in a sanctioned “closed-bout” earlier this season.

And with the post-season push mere weeks away, there are plenty of opportunities for you to help assist their cause off-the-track as they travel east.

This year’s North Central region playoffs will be held in the happenin’ haven of North Central activity known as Niagara Falls, New York.

I say that half-jokingly because Niagara Falls is located nowhere near any of the ten WFTDA-sanctioned squads that will be competing at “Thrill of the Spill.” In fact, the ARRG All-Stars will have one of the longest journeys to get there…735 miles one-way.

That’s a lot of numbers on the odometer. It makes for one costly trip.

Right now, the Arch Rival All-Stars are spearheading an online fund drive to help defray the costs associated with travel.

By heading over to THIS LINK RIGHT HERE, you can make a donation that will help the squad in their Empire State excursion.

As you’ll soon see, there are three primary levels of contribution, each with its own premium. However, you can donate as little or as much as you desire.

Thanks to the kind generosity of ARRG Nation, the online fundraiser has been quite successful only after one week. And there’s still plenty of time for you to help them out.

Head on over to the link, make a donation and single-handedly aid the All-Stars’ playoff push. Your contribution is greatly appreciated!
